Known Crew Member = Crew Member Access Point
KCM Update - January 27, 2025
Social media has been abuzz for the last week about the future Known Crew Member. Let’s set the record straight.
TSA is continuing the planned transition of the agency's full oversight of the crewmember expedited screening program.
This transition has been in the works for years. As we reported in December 2022, the renaming of the program was likely with the transition to full oversight by TSA.
Official statement from TSA on Friday, January 24, 2025:
TSA plans to implement the Crewmember Access Point program (CMAP), which is a security improvement and successor to the current Known Crewmember Program. The new CMAP, when implemented, will provide opted-in, eligible crew members with expedited access to the sterile areas at participating airports. This change represents a broad security enhancement and is not predicated upon a single prohibited item or vulnerability.
Our union will continue to work with TSA on the transition of the program and advocate for Flight Attendants. Random screenings will continue. Crewmember expedited screening is a privilege – not a right. It is critical that we continue to encourage crew to follow the rules of the program.

Negotiations Mediation Update
As you know, AFA filed for mediation a couple of weeks ago. The National Mediation Board (“NMB”) recently assigned Michael Kelliher as our mediator. Mike has been mediating for nearly 15 years and most recently helped AFA and Alaska achieve their tentative agreements.
