Understanding the AFA MEC Election Process
Dear Flight Attendants,
We hope this message finds you well. As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a strong, unified voice for Flight Attendants across our airline, we wanted to pass along a few resources that may offer more insight into the upcoming Master Executive Council (MEC) Election. This is a pivotal moment for our collective future, and we want to ensure that you are fully informed about the process.
What is the Master Executive Council (MEC)
The MEC is the chief governing body for the Flight Attendants within our Union at Horizon Air. The MEC plays a critical role in shaping our policies, negotiating with management, and advocating for the rights and welfare of all Flight Attendants. The individuals elected will have a significant impact on the direction of our Union at Horizon Air and our ability to achieve meaningful change on behalf of Horizon Air Flight Attendants.
Who Are the Members of the MEC That Will Be Voting for the MEC Officers
The two Local Council Presidents at Horizon Air are also referred to as the "members" of the MEC in the AFA-CWA Constitution and Bylaws (C&B). They are the voting members of the MEC.
How Are MEC Elections Governed
We have put together the specific cites from our C&B that speak to the MEC election process. We hope you find the information below both educational, and useful.

Conclusion
This election is about shaping the future of our profession at Horizon Air and our Union by ensuring we have leaders who will fight for a contract that includes, most significantly, increased wages and improvements to our quality of life. When we come together as one Union and one voice we make meaningful strides in improving our working conditions and advocating for and protecting the rights that matter to all of us.
