1st Quarter 2026, Grievance Settlement Newsletter

We had previously scheduled the Meet and Confer Grievance to be heard in arbitration on January 14th, 2026. Since the company ultimately did not change the boarding times, the arbitration was withdrawn without prejudice. The date was instead used for mediation on two cases.

The MEC Grievance Committee, MEC President Lisa Davis Warren, and AFA Senior Staff Attorney Eric Wright participated in the session with Connor Parker of the National Mediation Board and company management. Two cases were heard and successfully resolved.

MEC HIPAA Files to AFA (6-99-2-40-25)

This grievance was resolved through a settlement agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, AFA will provide the authorization form submitted by a Flight Attendant when filing a grievance. This will ensure AFA has the necessary documentation to investigate cases on behalf of Flight Attendants.

The settlement will be finalized and signed once we receive the step-by-step process from the ticket system administrator and incorporate it into the final draft.

MEC Reduced Credit Form, Part-Time May 2025 (6-99-2-39-25)

This grievance addressed the opening and closing dates/times for submitting a Reduced Credit Line request in March for the May bid month. We reached a settlement for those Flight Attendants who were negatively impacted by this change in practice in 2025. Affected Flight Attendants have been paid and credited with 4.5 credit hours.

The settlement will be posted on our website.

The next scheduled mediation session will take place June 2nd through the 4th. Prior to those dates, we will continue meeting regularly with the company in an effort to resolve outstanding grievances.

2026 Bidding Calendar Update

As you may have noticed, the 2026 bidding calendar has not yet been posted in Comply.

AFA and management have agreed to use the historical calendar that was utilized in prior years (before last year). We are continuing to work with management to finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the calendar until our new contract is in place, which will include a standard and leap-year calendar/s.

Until this agreement is finalized and the calendar is updated, we are unable to confirm when management will open and close bidding for Reduced Credit and Recurrent Training later in March for the bidding month of May.

We expect to have the MOU for the 2026 Bidding Calendar finalized before the end of this week.

As always, please reach out to your Local Officers if you have any questions.
