Grievance - Reduced Credit Line - May bid, 2025

Association of Flight Attendants-CWA

Violation from the Established Past Practice in the Awarded Reduced Credit Line Bids for May 2025

Your MEC Grievance Committee received information from management that the Reduced Credit Lines were awarded for the bid month of May 2025 based on a reference document in Comply365 instead of using the developed practice that the company and the union have mutually recognized in determining the awards for the May bid month. As a result, the Reduced Credit Form in Comply, submitted by Flight Attendants from 12:00 pm to 11:59 am on March 26th, was ignored.

Given the volume of requests typically received on the 26th, management should have notified Flight Attendants that they had changed the date the form would open to March 27th, and it would need to be resubmitted if a Flight Attendant wished to be considered for a Reduced Credit Line. This form states explicitly to submit the form no earlier than 1200 noon on the 26th and no later than 1200 noon on the 30th; "A non-probationary Flight Attendant who desires to hold a Reduced Credit Bidline in the following bid period must submit this form no earlier than 1200 PT on the 26th day of the month and no later than 1200 PT on the 30th day of the month before the start of the bid month for which she/he desires to work reduced credit."

Due to management's failure to properly notify Flight Attendants of any changes, AFA asked management to include all missing bids in the reduced credit award if they would have qualified for a reduced credit line, as well as those who were awarded. After management denied this request, we asked them to re-run the award, including those who placed bids on the 26th.

Despite extensive arguments, documentation, and discussion to prove that reduced credit line bidding has always opened on the 26th day of the month and closed on the 30th day of the month in March for May bidding since the inception of PBS, management is relying on their sole argument that they awarded this bid correctly.

This violation of proper notice has directly impacted at least thirteen flight attendants. AFA has no option but to move forward with a grievance and the process this entails.

Additionally, this change of dates impacted training bids for May. This bid also opened a day later and closed a day later than in previous years. The critical difference with this award is that FAs were notified when the bid opened and closed.

Finally, management advised that no base/domicile transfer requests were submitted by Flight Attendants in March for May, so no transfers were awarded for May 2025. If you request a base transfer in May, please complete a grievance ticket on our website, www.afahorizon.org.

In summary, we understand why some Flight Attendants fly reduced credit lines and the negative impact this has on your personal life. AFA is taking action for the reduced credit line award violation.
