Dear Flight Attendants,

We concluded our annual AFA-CWA Board of Directors Convention yesterday, where leaders from across our union came together to review the work of the past year and set priorities for the year ahead. One of the required agenda items at the Convention is the adoption of the annual budget. Included in the budget are our projected dues, and this year there was a dues increase. Your Local Presidents voted “NO” on the 2026/2027 budget that included this increase.

Under the adopted budget, the full monthly dues rate will be $65.36. But, given an amendment to the budget that was made to ease the transition, and with the understanding that there are many regional airlines, low cost carriers and boutique airlines that are struggling financially while we await improvements in pay, the Board of Directors passed the budget with a provision that the increase will be phased in over three years. Beginning in June of this year, monthly dues will adjust to $55.12. In June of the following year (June 2027), dues will increase by an additional $5.12, and another $5.12 increase will take effect the year after that (June 2028), bringing dues to the full rate outlined in the AFA-CWA merger agreement. This agreement is contained in our Constitution and Bylaws, Appendix A, Page 153.

AFA International will be meeting with the Union Finance Department in the next week and will send out further details regarding how this decision was made and how it will impact us as dues paying members. We respectfully ask that you hold off on any specific questions about this process/increase until we have a clear and concise picture of how this will be implemented by our International Office.

We appreciate your continued engagement and support as we work together to strengthen our union, advocate for a livable wage and meaningful financial improvements, and push for better scheduling and benefits provision/s in our contract.

More communication will be coming out soon. Please know that your Local Presidents, with the full support of the MEC Officers, as well as the Negotiations Committee, who will be in mediation next week, will be working very hard to lessen this impact to our Flight Attendants and get us the contract we DESERVE!

In solidarity,

Kirk Hansen (LECP Council 17); Jamie Moore (LECP Council 16 and MEC VP); Lisa Davis Warren (MEC President); and Aimee Baird (MEC Secretary-Treasurer)
