The MEC will be electing all MEC Committee Chairperson/s and other MEC-level appointed position/s.
The Committees are as follows:
- Air Safety, Health and Security
- Communications
- Employee Assistance Program/Professional Standards (Candidates must have completed Basic EAP Training)
- Government Affairs
- Grievance
- Hotel and Transportation
- Human Rights and Equity
- Inflight Service
- Inflight Training
- Jumpseat
- Leave and Benefits (Retirement, Payroll, Pregnancy/Maternity/Paternity/Adoption)
- Reserve
- Scheduling
- System Board
- Uniforms
Additionally, the MEC will be electing the following MEC-level appointed positions:
- ASAP Lead
- ASAP Alternate
- Jeppesen Lead
- Joint PBS Committee Lead (2 positions)
- Joint PBS Committee Alternate
General Qualifications
The following qualifications apply to all MEC-level/Chairperson positions:
- Current Horizon Air AFA Member in good standing
- Previous experience (Committee Member or Local Chair) preferred.
- Previous committee-specific training preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate a diverse team in a collaborative environment
- Availability to attend meetings as required (via videoconference and in person)
- Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write membership communications, respond professionally to internal and external e-mail, prepare reports, and plan and coordinate meetings (scheduling, logistics, agendas, minutes)
- Ability to meet deadlines, delegate responsibilities, and follow up on assigned tasks.

Time Commitment and Flight Pay Loss Reimbursement
Time commitment/s for each role varies.
Term of Service
Elected candidates will serve the remainder of the current MEC Officer election cycle (ends on December 31st, 2028).
How to Apply and Submission Deadline
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit at least one of the following: biography, resume and/or statement detailing your experience. We have created a form to submit your Commitment to Serve statement. You may also upload your biography, resume and/or statement using the same form. The deadline for submissions is April 27th, 2026 @ 0900.
After the deadline, an MEC representative will contact eligible candidates.
All candidates, including those who notify AFA during the MEC Election Meeting (April 27th @1630 - PDX Ops Center), will be considered.
