October Scheduling Changes: In Seattle, 16 pairings (trips) have been impacted by the lack of gate space in BZN. All impacted crew will be Pay Guaranteed (PG) and will have longer overnights in PDX as a result. Because of this change, BZN Continuous Duty Overnights (CDOs) were posted in Open Time.

New Officer Training
Our new Vice President and Secretary attended this training the week of August 25th in Baltimore, MD.
LEC Vice President Recap
One of the most significant takeaways from the training was the realization that, regardless of our LEC's size— whether 40, 300, or 5,000 members —we all face similar challenges. These include grievance, mobilization efforts, budget planning, and member engagement. The issues we face are all the same, no matter the size of the councils.
Another realization is that, as a completely new council, we are right on track with our responsibilities and progress, especially in the areas of communication and meetings. Whether it's interacting with management or connecting with members, we are following best practices for effective council operations.
The training provided me with a wealth of information on the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol Program (FADAP). Both programs play a vital role within the airline industry, offering essential support to all flight attendants and contributing to the overall well-being of our members.
Communication also stood out as a very important element for all members. The resources available through the AFA website are invaluable for Flight Attendants. These tools and information empower all Flight Attendants to stay informed and connected, reinforcing the importance of effective communication within our working group. Training was a great experience. The mock meeting sessions did a lot to ease some of my anxiety as LEC 16 was preparing for our first member meeting.
LEC 16 Secretary Recap
I felt more competent coming out of our mobilization training.
Meeting Flight attendants who are literally building up AFA at their airline from scratch was very inspiring.
I've come to realize that our struggles at Horizon are not as unique as I thought. It can be overwhelming to have 300 members in our LEC and then meet the LEC 11 United, which has 5,000 members. It's humbling to say the least. We're all in the same boat, going through the same things. All in all, it was a phenomenal experience, and I'm grateful for all the time, collaboration, friendships, and shared knowledge I gained to further the causes of our Horizon Flight Attendants.
