Day 1 of your elected LEC 16 officers term

Here we go! Norann, Brandy, and I want to thank our fellow LEC 16 Flight Attendants for entrusting us with the responsibility of representing such a strong, diverse, and passionate group. Additionally, we would like to thank Jennifer Levcun, Joshua Guiles-Haimes, and Wendy Kaihara for their service to our Flight Attendants and our union over the last three years. We are ready to dive in and build upon the successes that were fought for and won by our outgoing Officers.
Our plan is to continue to strengthen the Unity of all QX Flight Attendants. We will work closely with LEC 17 Officers, which will add weight to our voices and help produce the acknowledgment and treatment for which we work so hard. By working towards alignment and solidarity within our two Councils, we will enable the MEC to convey a unified message to management, which is our most powerful stance.
As we take office, we are working diligently to enhance our understanding of what it takes to run a Local successfully. We have begun reviewing the current committees to identify potential improvements and efficiencies. Our committees provide incredibly valuable information, so they must succeed.
We are attending AFA-provided training sessions to further our knowledge and to be able to best serve Flight Attendants in Local 16. We are studying the Local budget to appropriate our hard-earned dues in the most effective way possible. We are also paying attention to the unique needs of each of our bases. This way, our voices will carry more focused, direct requests and demands.
We previously mentioned committees. Are you interested in getting involved? Please let us know.
Next steps: Both councils' Mobilization meetings, Local Officer meeting, Committee meetings, Membership chats, and a formal Membership meeting. Stay tuned for dates coming soon.
It is fundamentally essential to myself, Norann and Brandy, that every member of our Council is represented. It matters that our presence is known to management. To reiterate, we emphasize how important it is that our councils be unified, as this gives the MEC a powerful message to convey with the full support of all Flight Attendants at Horizon Air.
We look forward to building up a great Local for you.
Keep wearing those RED pins, this is our turn for a much deserved, great contract. Together, we stand behind our Negotiations Committee. Let's show management we are one VOICE!
Jamie, Norann and Brandy
