What does the Government Affairs Committee do?
The AFA Government Affairs Committee lobbies member of Congress, provides lobbying training to AFA members and organized grassroots member activism around issues that matter most to Flight Attendants. AFA is frequently invited to provide expert advice on Flight Attendant issues and to give testimony on behalf of our members in congressional hearings. The AFA-CWA International Government Affairs Department and our extensive network of Flight Attendant activists influence decisions made at the highest levels of government that directly impact our profession. When AFA successfully shepherds a Flight Attendant issue through the legislative process until it is enacted into law, we can then take it off of the negotiating table and use our leverage to obtain other contractual gains.

Tell Secretary Mnuchin: You Can’t Leverage People!
The grants in the relief package provide paychecks for workers, not bailouts for airlines. These grants do one thing and one thing only: fund paychecks and benefits for two million hourly workers like flight attendants, pilots, gate agents, mechanics, the people who clean planes, cook the food, and help people through the airport. Secretary Mnuchin is…
