January Bid 341 – Scheduling Notes

Hello all and good day!

January trips are complete and are getting ready to be loaded into PBS before bidding opens. There are two market changes in January, one in the first week and another towards the end of the month. We will see increased intra-California routes, in addition to a new LAX-MSO at the end of the month.

We were able to use both duty-rest rules for both aircraft types. This ensures that your scheduled duty day isn’t longer than the preceding or following layover. AFA has agreed to continue co-pairing with the pilots, so duty will follow the FAR117 duty table. Long sits out of base have been reduced below 3 hours on the E175 and below 2 hours on the Q400. Some sits in SEA, PDX & LAX exceed 3 hours, but you will have access to a crew room there. After midnight releases have been eliminated except for a few of the AK trips.

We will continue to advocate for improvements for our members each month during the pairing development process. Our schedules make a huge difference in determining our work-life balance as well as our overall pay. If you have any comments or suggestions, please advise your base scheduling reps. We need a new scheduling rep for the GEG and MFR bases. If you are interested, please submit a letter of interest to Joelle Jaeger at joellejaeger@afahorizon.org for GEG or Kirk Hansen at kirkhansen@afahorizon.org for MFR.
